Women of the Year

The Junior League of Stark County, Ohio, Inc. is pleased to celebrate two outstanding women for their impact on the community. Jeanne Freitag and Katherine White will be honored at the Junior League of Stark County’s signature Women of the Year event. Now in its 77th year, the event will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Brookside Country Club, 1800 Canton Ave. NW.

Jeanne Freitag will receive the Community Award for making a significant impact in many areas of Stark County. Jeanne has been a volunteer with the Stark Library Foundation, serving in many capacities including co-chair of its major annual fundraiser as well as serving as president. She has also been involved with the Mayor’s Literacy Commission, Canton Fine Arts, the Canton Garden Center, and the Canton Women’s Club.  

 

 

Katherine White will receive the President’s Award for making significant, unique, and lasting volunteer contributions in a focus area of the Greater Stark County community. She is being honored for founding Jackson Bear Hugs, a nonprofit that works with volunteers and provides a place to collect, sort, and distribute donations to the community. Throughout the years, Jackson Bear Hugs has grown exponentially, and through her leadership works with a variety of partners throughout the area to collect and distribute items to various groups, including first responders, hospitals, churches, and homeless shelters.  

 

 

For more than 80 years, The Junior League of Stark County, Ohio, Inc. has impacted the greater Stark County community by investing in the lives of others. Our mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. Comprised of over 180 women, The Junior League of Stark County, Ohio, Inc. has contributed thousands of hours of volunteer service to create a positive impact.
